Legislative Advocacy:  Cities are the Key to the State’s Success
Now, more than ever, city officials need to have their voices heard at the capitol. The future of Texas depends on it.  We must deliver the message that cities are the engines of the state’s economy and city leaders are in the best position to promote quality of life while serving as good stewards of taxpayer dollars.  Attend this session to learn where we are, how we got here, and what needs to be done.  Your ability to decide what’s best for your city, without undue state interference, is at stake.
Scott Houston, Deputy Executive Director and General Counsel; Bill Longley, Legislative Counsel; and Monty Wynn, Director, Grassroots and Legislative Services, Texas Municipal League

Chart Your Own Flight Course
As the first female Hispanic Flight Director in the history of NASA, Ginger Kerrick knows all about personal setbacks, and financial and physical hurdles.  She has met each of these with determination and adaptability, plotting her personal and professional path with purpose, and pursuing what makes her happy.  An inspiration to women in physics and other competitive fields, Ginger’s story will resonate with every elected official who has ambitious dreams or has charted their own course.
